What is Positive Counselling?

We focus on your strengths and previous achievements as a means to come up with workable solutions, as opposed to deliberating endlessly about problems. Whilst we do not diminish the multiple issues and concerns that client’s face on a day-to-day basis, we believe that after forming a thorough understanding of what the issues and concerns are, most time and effort in counseling should be spent jointly finding solutions and working at implementing these.

We focus on strategies that foster positive emotions, engagement, meaning (in your life and those of others), positive relationships and accomplishment – In short, that which makes life worth living; gives it meaning and allows you to flourish! We also use and teach mindfulness techniques as an effective way to handle unpleasant and unhelpful thoughts, feelings and sensations that often get in the way of us achieving the life we want and living our values.
